A Resource, A Roadshow, & Free Speech Union Rev-up
We have a tool for parents dealing with Pride week, Our North Island Roadshow starts, & Free Speech Union takes on Marlborough Council
Pride Week and Out On The Shelves - Inside Out promotions
Next week (June 17-21) is Pride Week, and the whole month of June is ‘Out on the Shelves’ (OOTS) - a campaign that increases and promotes gender narrative and sexualised books into school and public libraries.
In 2023 over 300 schools* (incl approx 224 high schools) participated in Pride Week, and 250 schools** participated in Out on the Shelves. (Total schools in NZ - 2,538***)
As more parents are realising what’s behind this seemingly never-ending push towards sexualising and gender focus/confusion of our children, many are asking for help. If you’re feeling overwhelmed - you’re not alone. We have developed a resource to help parents, with simple templates you can adapt to communicate with your school, if you have concerns.
Last year we published these findings on InsideOut…
North Island Roadshow
Penny and Elisabeth reunite in Pukekohe on Friday 14th to continue our tour around NZ. We’re looking forward to connecting with many parents, grandparents and more… we know that if we want improvements we must come together now to discuss these hard topics.
Stage 1 is Auckland & Northland, with more events in the planning right now. Stay updated on our website, Facebook, X, Telegram.
Free Speech Union takes on Marlborough Council
We’re getting regional groups up and running around the country, as more parents are asking for help and networks. In Blenheim last week, a small LKBK group wanted to meet privately in a council library meeting room. So, they went through the usual process of booking. Their booking was declined. This was the reason given:
“Marlborough Libraries has reviewed your request to use our meeting rooms... we are not able to accommodate your request. While the purpose of your meeting is unclear, your organisation seems unlikely to meet the criteria set out in our T&Cs [to be 'inclusive']."
Our Blenheim team contacted the Free Speech Union who picked up the case immediately. Read their first blog on June 7 “Who made libraries the ‘inclusivity’ police?”, followed by June 12’s “We’re holding Marlborough Council accountable”.
This all happened just days after NZ First introduced a Member’s Bill to protect Freedom of Speech.
Government-elected gal meets grassroots gal
Tanya Unkovich and Penny and Teresa from LKBK met recently. We discussed not only the RSE Guidelines. We also discussed the actual curriculum and many other concerning facets of the gender and sexualisation programme being rolled out on our children. And the deeply troubling lack of communication or buy-in from parents. We shared some of our recent research, and will continue to do so.

Our network is growing and we’re connecting together face to face. Contact us if you want to find or start a group in your town, and also come along to our Roadshow when it’s in your town!
Want to support Let Kids Be Kids?
There are an eye-watering number of ‘pride’ and ‘rainbow’ charities in NZ. They receive millions from the govt, councils, corporations and community grants. We don’t. We likely wouldn’t fit the ‘inclusivity’ criteria - because it seems to us that the $$$ gets funneled one way only. So how does common sense and facts get heard?
We are currently a volunteer team who have put our lives on hold to commit themselves to the work of Let Kids Be Kids. Because it’s now or never. So we really value your support. There are a number of ways you can. Check out our Donate page.
