Urgent: Have your say on Relationships and Sexuality Education by May 9
At Let Kids Be Kids, we’re alarmed by Green MP Benjamin Doyle’s recent Instagram post rallying his followers to shape the Ministry of Education’s draft Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) framework, due for implementation by 2027. The consultation closes May 9, and we need parents and concerned Kiwis to speak up.

Doyle, backed by Young Greens NZ, Rainbow Greens NZ, and MPs Lawrence Xu-Nan and Kahurangi Carter, calls for strengthening consent education from Year 1 (age 5) and embedding ‘gender, takatāpui, and rainbow identities’ across the curriculum.
Doyle argues the draft framework erases these identities - a stance amplified by activist groups mobilising their networks
These efforts are part of a broader push, including by organisations like Sexual Wellbeing Aotearoa (formerly Family Planning), InsideOut, Auckland Women’s Centre and others, to influence RSE content in ways many parents find troubling.
Given Doyle’s controversial profile, we question his suitability to advocate for children’s sex education. The emphasis on early consent education, which we know is tied to the Unites Nation’s (and WHO) Comprehensive Sexuality Education, raises serious concerns.
It risks introducing complex concepts to young children, potentially blurring legal boundaries around consent, which is a clear “no” for those under 16.
Moreover, resources from groups like Sexual Wellbeing Aotearoa encourage early sexual activity and bypass parental involvement, creating distance between children and their families.
This activism is highly coordinated
Funded by entities like JR McKenzie Trust, Lush, and Netsafe, these groups are attempting to flood the consultation with their extreme agenda. Meanwhile, parents and everyday Kiwis, busy raising families and contributing to society, risk being drowned out by well-organised, well-funded lobbyists.

Take action by May 9
The RSE consultation is open until 5pm May 9. We urge every household to submit feedback to the Ministry of Education. Here’s how:
Voice your own concerns and recommendations about age-inappropriate content, the erosion of parental rights, and the need for clear, biology-based sex education. Let Kids Be Kids has not provided templates or instructions as you must send in what is important to you, and your values and expectations on the state regarding sex education (note that it is now sexUALITY education - are you ok with this?).
Share this information with others - hastily.
Let’s ensure our children’s education reflects our values, not the priorities of activist networks. Visit Let Kids Be Kids website for tools to opt out, engage with schools, and submit your RSE feedback. Act now - our kids deserve better than what is being served up by the Ministry of Education.

I just filled in the survey and thanked them for removing most ideology. They need to be clearer on the definition of sex being male or female based on gamete size and not conflated with secondary characteristics such as hormones and chromosomes. A variation of chromosomes such as XXY does not create a third sex and children should be clear that chromosomes in humans determine but not define sex. I also voiced my concern about Benjamin Bussy Doyle and Inside Out and that pushing queer theory goes against the Education Act which is to keep schools politically neutral free of far left agendas. Thank you for bringing such amazing awareness to parents.
I had my say on this ridiculous RSE agenda. This is pure unadulterated government and its agencies interference in family life to divide, conquer and promote Transhumanism ultimately. Messing with childrens' minds, hearts, spirits is what is on the agenda of this supposed evil disguised as good. NO CONSENT. Government..ie. the crooks and criminals implementing nonsense need to STOP immediately what they're trying to implement because everyone should know at least....Government DOES NOT CARE about you or your family...and this agenda is evil.
